I gradi nell’Aikido

Il livello tecnico di un praticante è indicato dal suo grado. Esistono due gruppi di praticanti, distinguibili per la cintura che indossano: cintura bianca o cintura nera.

Cintura bianca: chi inizia a praticare aikido indossa la cintura bianca, che manterrà fino a quando avrà conseguito il grado di cintura nera – primo livello. Alla cintura bianca è associato il termine kyu; si parte da mu kyu (nessun grado = principiante), prosegue col 6° kyu per poi passare al 5°, al 4° ecc. fino al grado di 1° kyu, l’ultimo prima della cintura nera.

Cintura nera (yudansha): superato l’esame di primo dan, nell’Aikido l’allievo indossa la cintura nera. Oltre alla cintura, la divisa per la pratica è integrata dall’hakama: si tratta di sovrapantaloni ereditati dalla quotidianità tradizionale giapponese, solitamente di colore scuro.

Gli esami per passare di grado hanno solitamente un doppio vincolo: occorre attendere un tempo minimo prima di poter sostenere un nuovo esame per passare di grado, e occorre un monte ore minimo di pratica. Oltre a questo è buona norma partecipare a stage di aggiornamento.
